Best described here by our photo illustrations we have left this rarely surviving early straight razor in as found and untouched condition with a light natural age patina to the blade that would polish to a fine bright surface (horrors !!) but we wouldn’t. The grips or scales are of emboss decorated natural horn and remain in pleasing condition, untouched condition with wonderful natural age and none of the expected splits or breaks as is expected of these early examples. Our 1775 - 1810 dating is based on design and construction characteristics well-established and accepted by knowledgeable collectors. The classic 18th century wedge shape of the blade in cross section, square butt, straight taper of the scales and the same straight line of the blade with short monkey tail are all indicative of the day.
Buy with confidence! We are pleased to offer a no questions asked three day inspection with return as purchased on direct sales!
