Measuring 4 3/4 inches in diameter, these turned fruitwood traveling candlesticks remain in original even seemingly unused condition. Wonderful patina and a single fine age crack along the grain of one side offer good evidence of age and originality. (see illustration insert) Commonly referred to as donut candlesticks by Civil War collectors and antique lighting enthusiasts, the vast majority of surviving examples of the type are of spun brass though finely turned wood examples such as offered here are known to have seen use from the period of the American colonial and Revolutionary War period through the Civil War era. As with all direct sales, we are pleased to offer a no questions asked three day inspection with refund of the purchase price upon return as purchased! Thanks for visiting Gunsight Antiques!
