Manufacturer: American antique
This all original uncut printers sheet measures 12 X 18 inches and remains in nice original condition with a pleasing soft age coloration and that classic block printing that leaves an embossed effect telltale of the old printing presses. The sheet contains FOUR LABELS and FOUR HANDBILLS promoting Dr. Israel Newton's JAUNDICE BITTERS & ANTI-BILIOUS BITTERS. This piece is dated 1846 and will go especially well when laid in with a quality Mexican War era grouping. Under a warning against COUNTERFEIT preparations Dr. Israel Newton assures customers that those Bitters which accompany this bill of 1846 and with my name, shall be prepared according to my directions. Dr. Newton informs prospective purchasers that the bitters would be available at Windsor, Vermont, at the shop of druggist M.K. Paine and dates the handbill at Norwich, Vt., January 1846. It is interesting to note the fact that, Dr. Newton lived until 1856 and was, indeed, a trained physician. He served in the American Revolution and was the last surviving veteran of Norwich. A man of diverse abilities, Dr. Newton invented and built an organ which was installed at the old First Church where it served for many years. please note: ALL ITEMS ARE CURRENT & AVAILABLE UNLESS MARKED SOLD!!
