This extra nice condition original February 17, 1864 issue Confederate $10.00 bill bears a post Civil War printing on the back titled Confederate Memorial with a patriotic poem and type set notation that: The above inscription was written on the back of a Confederate Note found on the person of a dead Confederate of the war. The note is then identified as a -SOUVENIR – Presented by HENRY SCHNEIDER. Manufacturer, Men’s and Ladie’s Fine Boots & Shoes –WINCHESTER, VA. 1890. Reminiscent of a time in the early post war year South when original issue hand endorsed Confederate bills were plentiful but worthless except as souvenirs to be handed out to visiting Yankees.
