Manufacturer: N.R. Co. - Goodyear's Pat.

With it's high relief Lady Liberty figure on the face and bold N.R. Co. - Goodyear's Pat. May 6, 1851 on the back, this large (1 1/8" diameter) decorative hard rubber button remains in excellent original condition and will be of special interest Civil War era collectors. A popular design in an era of great patriotic fervor, hard rubber buttons of this figure were offered in several sizes with the smaller sizes by far the most common. The larger size like this one were considerably more expensive and were generally reserved for use where one or two would do the trick. We have seen them used in pairs at the throat of a gentleman’s cape and stitched alone on the breast of a shirt or frock coat simply as decoration. A neat all original item offered here at a reasonable price.
