Manufacturer: handcrafted American antique
It is not clear weather this entirely handmade model straight razor with it's 11 1/2" long "whittled" grip and 1 3/4" wide black iron blade was simply constructed as a whimsy more for the pleasure of the making than for any more meaningful use, or that it was intended for trade display in a country barber shop, but it is what it is, an interesting and attractive piece of country folk-art. The piece is untouched and as found with lots of age and an eye pealing patina on both wood and metal. Probably not as early as the Civil War but surely turn of the century with that classic mid 19th century blade style, the piece would go especially well set in with period barber shop, razor, trade, or folk-art Americana.
