Manufacturer: Heintzelman Pharmacy
We have a small quantity of original HEINTZELMAN’S PHARMACY, Phila. TONIC MIXTURE labels to be offered here individually priced for the collector of Civil War vintage pharmaceuticals, early to mid 19th century medical cures, or simply Civil War era personal things. Heintzelman’s labels (see Civil War era Philadelphia directories) measure approximately 1 1/8" X 3 3/8" and mixes a bit of German with the primarily English text that expounds on the curative properties of the content. Dosages for "morbid condition of the system" to "prostration" are given. Each remains in fine un-used condition for display as is, or mounted on a period bottle. Civil War medical collectors and enthusiasts will be pleased to note that the Philadelphian, Heintzelman served as a Hospital Steward with the 72nd Penn. Volunteer Infantry from 8/10/1861 to 12/4/1862 then as Assistant Surgeon of the 42nd Mass. Volunteers until 8/20/1863 (see: Rush B. Heintzelman - - History of Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861-1865 by Bates and Civil War Mass. Adjt. Genl. Reports) A neat all original item with lots of eye appeal for the person who would enjoy a colorful little remnant of the time without spending a weeks pay. See item # 798 & 1212 for a variation from HEINTZELMAN’S PHARMACY.
