Civil War era INDELIBLE MARKER

NOTICE

********NOW OPERATING FROM OUR NEW HEADQUARTERS ********

Now fully operational from the beautiful Pacific North West, we encourage all to keep a close eye as we unpack posted offerings and continue what will be an ongoing effort of unpacking the collection while taking stock with an eye toward thinning out our accumulation of treasures. After years of seeking out and acquiring all manner of quality antique Americana from simple but seldom surviving items of special interest to historically important treasures, Janet and I look forward to offering the fruits of our years of seeking out such to new and appreciative homes.

Manufacturer: Clark’s Indelible Pencil Co.

We have recently acquired a small quantity of Clark’s Indelible Pencil Co. Pat. 1859 (improved 1861) indelible markers and are offering them here, by the piece, for the collector who would like one to display with a nice Civil War grouping. Promoted and sold as Clark’s Shipping & Lumber Crayon, these neat little blue markers (illustrated here with a U.S. quarter for size comparison) were a favorite for addressing express packages and their telltale blue markings were seen on Government supply crates as well as personal soldiers boxes from home or sent to home from the seat of war. Unused and as new from decades of attic storage, each marker will come with a quality new copy of the old yellow Pat. 1859 : improved 1861, Clark’s label used in our illustration. A neat little display item at a reasonable price. please note: ALL ITEMS ARE CURRENT & AVAILABLE UNLESS MARKED SOLD!!. If you are new to Gunsight Antiques and wish additional information or just to learn who we are, please check out our home page. Thanks for visiting our on-line store !!
