Manufacturer: antique
A most attractive earlier to mid 19th century colorfully printed and embossed textile label as was so popular among the fortunate ladies of the who could afford to shop for and purchase the finest of bolt textiles. These attractive labels were printed on heavy paper stock, usually embossed in some fanciful design as was this example and finished either by direct printing or by application of a smaller oval image of some colorful and pleasing subject. The fancy decorative labels were pasted or pinned to flat bolts of material and offered as a sort of premium to the textile buyer. Surviving examples are generally found with sewing things or pasted in ladies scrapbooks. This one is in extra nice condition with bright coloration and no tears or folds. It measures approximately 4" X 11 ¼" long. A nice item for the Civil War vintage textile or ladies sewing grouping, all original and reasonably priced. please note: ALL ITEMS ARE CURRENT & AVAILABLE UNLESS MARKED SOLD!!.
